BP’s 2015 U.S. Ultimate Field Trip competition (Spring 2015)

Three undergrads win BP Ultimate Field Trip: “For the final round they produced a second video, this one, Zhang said, “much more polished—more like a film pitch.” – a quote from the news article. The team used DMC equipment to collect footage and DMC audio studio to record voiceover narration for the animation.

Organ Performance Audition Video (Sep 2015)

A Rice Shepherd Music School student used DMC equipment to shoot his organ performance in three different angels and edited the videos with DMC software. The video was created on 9/10/2015.

    • DMC Equipment: 3 Canon Vixia M500 Video Cameras to record three different angels – long shot, hand close-up and feet close-up; 3Sunpack tripods.
    • DMC software: Final Cut Pro X to create a multicam clip and switch between three angels on the fly.

Music videos made by Daniel Knaggs, a PhD student of Rice Shepherd Music School: The first video made in 2014 was for Daniel’s individual doctoral project, which he used to recruit about 32 choirs from 21 countries to participate the project. The newer video made in March, 2016 is to explain the music that is on Daniel’s new CD.

YouTube Series “Poco Piano” (Spring 2013)

As a part of the DMA (Doctor of Musical Arts) program at Rice University, Makiko Hirata, a PhD student at Rice Shepherd Music School, had to pick an independent project that would promote music students as a performer and/or a pedagogue to their prospective audiences, presenters, and employers. With help and support of DMC staff, Makiko had made a series of youtube videos that explained the basics of Western classical music, relating it to broader topics of music history, theory, physics of sound, etc.

Houston Asian American Archive (HAAA) Project ( 2013-2015 )

The Houston Asian American Archive (HAAA) is a research archive focusing on Houston’s Asian American immigrant experience. Oral histories in digital audio format are major part of their collections. Between 2013-2015, the DMC provided training to the project interns and the students who were enrolled in 387 AACC class on how to record an interview with DMC audio recorders, how to edit the audio, and how to transcribe the recording .
